How I set up and maintained a Gensyn worker node with 99.8% uptime. Lessons learned from running AI/ML infrastructure for the first time.

Running Gensyn AI Worker Node: My Experience

When I first heard about Gensyn, I was intrigued by the concept of decentralized ML training. Coming from traditional blockchain validators, this was something completely different.

The Setup Journey

Unlike other testnets I've run, Gensyn required a bit more compute power. I ended up using a VPS with 8GB RAM and 4 cores. The setup was surprisingly smooth - the docs were clear and the Discord community was super helpful.

Challenges Faced

Resource Management

The worker node can get resource-intensive during ML tasks. I learned to monitor CPU usage closely and adjust my VPS plan accordingly.

Network Stability

Being in Indonesia, network stability was a concern. I ended up using a Singapore-based VPS to reduce latency issues.

Current Status

🟢 99.8% Uptime - Pretty proud of this!

The node has been running smoothly for months now. The key was:

  • Proper monitoring setup
  • Regular updates (following their Discord)
  • Quick response to any alerts

Would I Do It Again?

Absolutely! This project taught me a lot about AI/ML infrastructure. It's different from traditional blockchain nodes, and that's what makes it fun.
